Lumber Jack

Hola! My beautiful people. Today I feel the need to pay you guys back some compliments and not just the "looking good!" ones, but a little beyond. There aren't many of you that follow the Blog and it's content and I swear I am at blame for that. Lack of effort maybe but mainly lack of time. I am very much sure we all are and trust I am not crying you a river or complaining because I'd like to think I spend my time rather wisely #itsthelittlethings that have always mattered. Any who today is all about you and thanking you for the support mainly on Instagram, Thank you for the sweet comments the DM's of how you love my style and the simplicity that I bring to the Blog. These DM's have also brought to my attention the couple questions on how to wear certain pieces that are still in your closet waiting to be worn. I am so happy that I can be of some use to you guys in any way possible. So before moving on I really want to thank you for your kind words and your little virtual kisses of affection, it really is incredible to me that complete strangers can support a person the way you guys have to me.
Back to these questions I have been asked many times on mixing patterns even textures and here's the low down:
Leopard has become a neutral, don't be afraid of pairing it with almost anything. Plaid, stripes, gingham in a smaller scale also looks great.
Leopard and cameo Gosh pls try!!!
Floral prints and polka dots, or polka dots with stripes is super cute and very girly.
Leather is also a great neutral for mixing textures like with fur and suede.
Black, gray, khaki, and at times any solid color also fall in the neutral category.
These are just a few but look up Olivia Palermo, she is the queen of mixing anything that woman can do no wrong.
Now for my simple example to share with you all take plaid and mix a chic patterned scarf and you are set for the chilly mornings this Cali weather brings us!

Thanks for stopping by!
X.O Sury

Flapper Tassels

Hey there Happy Columbus Day! (interesting fact: The names of his ships were supposedly nick names of prostitutes) sounds accurate. Well whatever did happen then gave us a no school day. Whether it be true he never stepped foot in North America doesn't really concern me today.
So it's Monday and to those mom's out there I hope you had a wonderful 8hr sleep, if not then kudos to you and still managing to function. Now to this fun and multitasking outfit, this little Black Tassel Dress I bought some time ago with the purpose of using it as a costume to my son's 2nd Birthday. It seamlessly did it's job but after that it never really saw the light of day the poor thing. I always thought of it as a bit costumy for any occasion. That is till I tried it under my awesome cargo vest! This really is everything, makes everything feel super relaxed and chic. I just made a simple little adjustment to the way I cinched it and voila a waist! the worst problem to adding something bulky to a frame is getting lost under the fabric. Throw on some booties for this fall weather and your set for a night out !!!

Lazy Days in Sweats

Sooo my Lovely reader's you! Lets chit chat a bit about how this weather has made us feel...??? No okay. I have personally have had enough. I want to know nothing about it, except when Fall has actually arrived here in Cali then let me know and I'll bring out the fabulous mustard colored scarf. Until then I refuse to keep annoying myself and others with complaints of how horrible the weather is,
Glad we've moved on. Now I have been at school all wk and have seemed to even fit study sessions on Fridays, yes guys I seem to study when horrible math teacher schedules exams just 2wks into school.  I have been a complete mess all over (not that you cant tell) but take this for instance these sweats here... life savers! I have been living in these for the same amount of time that school has been in session. Lets say the girls we're to call and schedule drinks, maybe even movie night? this is exactly what I would throw on and I do mean just the heels!

Happy Tuesday & Wish me Luck!

XO, Sury

Stripes and Black

Still in a rural part of Cali the sun shines and it's casualness and serenity just makes for the perfect end to our little road trip. Which means to me comfort, not that any other outfit post don't include it. You can always count me in for the easy breezy part of Fashion. "Never" should be band from any vocabulary but, here it goes I shall never be caught in something where my chonis risk being exposed or I'm sucking the life out of my self to look extra and I mean extra skinny. So no party  outfits here.. my sincere apologies party girls. Don't get me wrong I totally applaud the girl with the body skimming dress up to her buttocks, but the reason she's in that is because she's willing to dance the night away tugging at the hems of her dress hoping there is no wardrobe malfunction. I in the other hand to make my every Friday easier, stay at home watching Frozen with a little boy named REYLI...
So for the sake of my uncoordinated dancing skills, here is my all time go to Comfy outfit. Cropped top lose and stripped = comfort. Pair it with anything high waisted! and I mean anything! This wrap around skirt I found this summer at Marshall's. This style is the simplest yet chicest way to look put together but still able to breath, which is always needed we have to many important things in our minds worrying about what to wear should not be one. I got chu' Girl!

The Weekender

*   *   *

No one cares for repeated outfits do we? I at least don't, as a matter of fact I pretty much have a uniform coming the weekend. Rules do apply though. There is no huge bag involved, comfy shoes are must (that doesn't mean Crocs are allowed) and when in doubt always, always wear deconstructed jeans! These are my absolute fave they're everywhere now so take your pick. The shoes you are probably tired of but please let me explain, they're comfy and most important they're leopard! Now this top is so airy and light even though is black and how can I ever leave black behind??  This past Labor Day my family and I spent the weekend riding horses into the sunset... and one not past some pretty flowers haha. Monday was spent at a lovely man made lake in L.A eating grilled corn, tamales, pupusas, raspados, and fresh fruit. Now that was the perfect end to our weekend.
